Abstract Background The aim of the study is to find correlation between prostate volume and severity lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) as measured by international score maximum urine flow rate among patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods was a prospective correlational conducted June 2016 November 2017. A total 290 who presented LUTS suggestive BPH satisfied inclusion criteria were consecutively recruited. Clinical evaluation including digital rectal examination done. Symptoms assessed using self-administered (IPSS) questionnaire. Prostate determined transrectal ultrasound scan, uroflowmeter. Data analyzed SPSS version 20.0, p value < 0.05 taken be statistically significant. Results mean age 64.22 ± 9.04 years range 40 95 years. Most had moderate (55%) on IPSS 16.41 7.43. Qmax 16.55 7.41 ml/s, median (IQR) 45.05 (35, 59). There positive significant ( r = 0.179, 0.002) negative − 0.176, 0.003). Conclusion This showed IPSS, also (Qmax).
